Take tonight for example. Turn the corner and you'll find the colours and sounds of festivity no further than two blocks from where I live- the 3-day celebration of a Chinese deity's birthday is no small affair.

Life in the Fast (Food) Lane

Yesterday and today- caught in the mercilessly frantic fast lane of the shopping district, Orchard Road.
Where signs of the simpler pleasures- colourful balloons, roasted chestnuts and the whiff of newspapers- are overlooked in the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping.
Where reflections of Christmas trees are more real than the trees themselves.
And where fast food has become the constant for sustenence.
